As the communications manager for ART 180, we worked with GRTC to give 20 artists from the Richmond community a platform to display their art on 160 buses throughout the city for three months. These 20 were just a small sample of the hundreds who designed and led programs for young people at ART 180 over 20 years.
Artists’ work were featured inside GRTC buses on channel card displays. Plus, all 20 works of art were exhibited at ART 180’s Atlas gallery in Jackson Ward in August 2018. Here’s a link to the full campaign: https://www.art180.org/TakestheBus

While working at ART 180 as its comms manager, I worked alongside ART 180’s self-advocacy arm, Performing Statistics, to promote and produce “My Reality” a groundbreaking exhibition and virtual reality installation created by teens impacted by the juvenile justice system in Richmond, VA. Using art and technology, the exhibit amplified the powerful stories, dreams, and desires of incarcerated youth.
For the exhibit we partnered with Scenic (a virtual reality content studio based in New York City) and visual artists. Each part of the exhibit presented viewers with immersive and eye-opening experiences that share the perspectives of youth most impacted by the juvenile justice system. Beyond the virtual reality installation, the exhibit included photographs, poetry, and immersive audio installations.
